Brigades
A brigade in the Continental Army was composed of several regiments from the same state or region. Most brigades were named for their commander, although in some cases the commander was present only part of the time (Weedon and Huntington). In other instances the commander was never at Valley Forge at all (Glover and Learned). In these situations, an acting commander was appointed, and if known, those officers are noted.
Below are the brigades that were present at some point during the Valley Forge encampment.
